Salvation

What happens when I die? Where will I spend eternity?
What do I need to do to get to Heaven? There’s a question many people ask and the answer is…NOTHING. You cannot DO anything to get to Heaven, it’s already been DONE for you when Jesus Christ died on the Cross of Calvary in your place. That being said, not everyone is going to Heaven. But you can! So, here’s the truth God wants you to know.

First, you must understand your need for a personal Savior. We all have a huge problem called sin. None of us are perfect. Romans 3:23 says “for all have sinned and all fall short of the glory of God.” Are you willing to admit that you are a sinner?

Because of our sin, none of us deserves Heaven. Romans 6:23 begins with the words “For the wages of sin is death.” What sin does deserve is God’s punishment. We deserve eternal death, apart from God, in a place called Hell.

But the verse doesn’t end there. The rest of Romans 6:23 says “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The Good News is that God provided for our sin problem. He made possible something that we don’t deserve – eternal life. John 3:16 puts it like this:

“For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”

God made a way for you to be forgiven of your sins and have eternal life. He provided for you by sending His Son, Jesus Christ to be the Savior of the World. Jesus Christ came to this earth as God in the flesh. He lived a perfect life and then willingly died on a Cross because of His love for you. While on that cross He paid for your sins. He took the punishment you deserved on Himself.

Along with understanding your need for a personal Savior,  you must believe that Jesus died for you.

Finally, you must invite Him to be your Savior. Romans 10:13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Romans 10:9-10 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

It’s as simple as believing and receiving.

If you’ve never invited Jesus into your life as your personal Savior, you can do so right now.  Your life will have much more meaning with Jesus involved! If you would like to do that, you can pray a prayers like this:

Lord Jesus, I believe you are God and that You died for my sins. I confess that I am a sinner and I don’t deserve Your payment or Your forgiveness. Right now, I invite you to come into my life and be my Savior. I am placing my trust in You alone. I accept Your gift of eternal life by faith. Thank You, Jesus that You promise to save me from my sins. Amen.
